Vienna, Leopold museum
One of the most interesting museums of Vienna is Leopold Museum, located in MuseumsQuartiers district.
The works on display came from Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold’s private collection; in 2001, they decided to open the collection to the public. The building of the museum represent an architecture masterpiece: has a cubic shape, white color, and was designed by architects Ortner & Ortner, in collaboration with Rudolf Leopold. The large windows give a sense of brightness and lightness, as well as allow enjoying a great panoramic view over Vienna. Leopold Museum shows one of the largest modern art collections, with 5,000 works on display by artists like Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and Richard Gerstl. The museum also exhibits the largest collection Egon Schiele’s works, the most important Austrian Expressionism exponent.
A section of the museum is dedicated to Vienna Art Nouveau: here, there are many elegant and fine pieces of artistic craftsmanship on display; the elements of Art Nouveau collection date back to XIX and XX century and were produced by artists such as Josef Hoffmann and Kolo Moser.
