Venice: the Gran Teatro la Fenice
Venice is the city of art, music and culture. If you are planning on visiting it, there will never be a lack of initiatives to which you will be able to participate. Among the many theatres within the city the most famous is the Gran Teatro la Fenice (the Phoenix).
Born in 1792, the Gran Teatro la Fenice often hosts world premiers of very important operas. Its name reflects how it was born from ashes just like a bird of fire, starting again from zero after being burned down, closed and re-opened several times. It took the place of the San Benedetto Theatre when this itself was burned down by a fire, rising from the ashes of its predecessor.
La Fenice has been rebuilt for the last time only recently after being destroyed by arson caused by an electric company that could not complete its work and was in economic distress.
