Paris: Japan Expo
The conventions dedicated to Japanese culture have rapidly multiplied during the last years in the west. Some became huge events that attract hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts from all across the world. One of the most famous is held each year in Paris: Japan Expo.
Even if it pales in comparison with several other Asian conventions, Japan Expo remains the largest in its kind in all of Europe. Its first edition was in 1999, and it counted around 3,200 participants. The data in 2012 show how much it has grown with 208,000 people. It is held every July for 4 days (generally from Thursday to Sunday) in the Parc des Expositions de Villepinte.
Going to Japan Expo is like going to a carnival: some of the participants are dressed like comics and cartoon characters, while products that you can buy nowhere else are sold in the stands within.
