The complex serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation.

From 1264, it became the official residence of the princes of Moscow, but the most important period for its development is that between XIII and XV century, when the first churches were built.
The building was completed afterwards, thanks to the help of many Italian architects.

During XX century it became the symbol of the new Soviet power; during this period, it was built also the State Kremlin Palace.

It was opened to public only in 1955, allowing visitors to admire the beautiful museum that illustrates its history.
