Budapest, Palace of Arts
Palace of Arts is the most important cultural center of Budapest.
It was projected by Hungarian architects Zoboki and Demete in 2005. The former complex was totally renovated, as part of a great urban renewal project that involved the IX district; the former industrial district has been turned into a new cultural and tourist center. The Palace of Arts has been realized with a double aim: on the one hand, to preserve the Hungarian cultural identity and, to the other, to boost the knowledge of other countries culture. The building includes three magnificent spaces: the National Concert Hall, the Ludwig Museum and the Festival Theatre.
The prestigious National Concert Hall is characterized by a linear and formal architecture; it is also equipped with advanced technology, which optimizes the acoustic. The Theatre Festival has one of the most modern stages of the world and, because of this, the theatre is very versatile and has been used also for fashion events. Finally, the Ludwig museum, located into a beautiful setting overlooking the Danube, hosts both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
